Real estate investment trust Behringer Harvard Multifamily REIT Inc. announced Thursday it’s trying to raise $2 billion in equity through the sale of more than 200 million shares of common stock at $10 per share.

Behringer Harvard Multifamily REIT is a public nonlisted REIT.

In addition to offering the shares through independent financial advisers, Behringer Harvard Multifamily REIT says through its distribution reinvestment plan it’s offering upward of 50 million shares of common stock, priced at $9.50 per share.
